Movement is the lifelong passion and focus of talented orthopaedic physiotherapist Pam Place.
Pam began her working career as a dancer with the National Ballet of Canada, performing on the world’s great stages. Today, Pam is a highly experienced physiotherapist, with 25 years of success providing insightful care for those with musculoskeletal injuries, sports injuries, spinal conditions and post surgical rehabilitation needs. The lived experience of a performing artist continues to guide her special expertise managing injuries in dancers, musicians, athletes and performers, from students to working professionals.
Learning and teaching are pivotal to Pam’s approach to therapy. She holds a BSc PT from the University of Ottawa, and is a Fellow of The Canadian Academy of Manual and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapists (FCAMPT). She’s also earned certification (CAFCI) with Acupuncture Canada, formerly the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute. She approaches dance injuries with knowledge gained from a course of study entitled Principles of Dance Medicine at the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries in New York City. She has been the physiotherapist to a number of touring dance companies at the National Arts Centre. Pam is on the faculty of The School of Dance in Ottawa.
Pam’s background and experience as a professional dancer, ballet teacher and physiotherapist, astute diagnostic and treatment skills and thoughtful and supportive approach to care have resulted in excellent therapeutic results, helping people from all walks of life move more freely. Her exceptional understanding of both the physical and mental demands of performance make her an invaluable resource for artists and students in the National Capital region.
Pam’s practice is centrally located in the beautiful, historic School of Dance building in Ottawa’s New Edinburgh neighbourhood. Pam offers treatment in both English and French.
